The Altra Kielder Marathon takes place in early October; 2025 marked the 15th edition, and the weekend also offers a half, a 10K, a gravel duathlon and junior races. The trail route circles Kielder Water, England's largest reservoir, through Kielder Water and Forest Park with its rolling hills, bridges and lake views. It is a friendly, intimate trail festival that bills itself as Britain's most beautiful marathon. Kielder is also a Dark Sky Park with its own observatory, and Hadrian's Wall and Northumberland National Park are nearby.
