'Vilties bėgimas' (Hope Run) is a big charity running day in Klaipėda at the end of May; in 2026 its motto was 'Peace and Kindness'. The programme is huge: a marathon and half marathon on 5.3 km loops, an 8 × 5.3 km team relay, a 10 km counting towards the Lithuanian Cup, 5 and 3 km health runs, plus races for schoolchildren, kids, seniors and people with disabilities — even a heat for parents with strollers. The start is in the historic centre on Tiltų Street, the kids' races are held at the amphitheatre on Jono kalnelis, and the whole city turns into a celebration of togetherness for a day. Klaipėda is Lithuania's oldest city, with a half-timbered Old Town, a maritime museum and a ferry to the dunes of the Curonian Spit.
