Kullamannen by UTMB is a late-October ultra on the Kulla and Bjäre peninsulas in Skåne, part of the UTMB World Series. The distances are 173 km, 108 km, 53 km (Seventh Seal) and 22 km (North Shore), and much of the racing happens in autumn darkness by headlamp. The course follows the Skåneleden trail: Kullaberg's rocky cliffs above the sea, beech forests, the Hallandsåsen ridge and the coastal crags of Hovs Hallar, where Ingmar Bergman filmed The Seventh Seal. Over it all hangs the legend of Kullamannen, a monster that 'slayed strong men and women', and 100-mile finishers earn a coveted ring rather than a medal. The region offers the resort town of Båstad with its tennis and cafés, the fishing village of Mölle, the Kullen lighthouse and Bjäre's famous strawberries.
