La Parisienne has been held in Paris in September since 1997 and has grown from 1,500 to more than 30,000 participants — it is now Europe's largest women-only race. The favourite distance is 6.7 km, alongside a 10 km and a 5 km walk; it starts by the Eiffel Tower, then a kilometre on the Champs-Élysées, the Palais de Tokyo, Les Invalides, the Grand Palais, the Seine banks and the Pont Alexandre III. Musicians play every 250 m, there is giant yoga and fitness on the Champ de Mars, street performers and food trucks, and each year has its own theme. Paris also means the Louvre, Montmartre, Marais cafés and sunset on the Seine.
An easy run with a local club the day before the race — the best way to shake out the legs and meet the city.
