The Media Maratón de La Rioja runs on an urban loop through Logroño, capital of Spain's world-famous Rioja wine region. It is organized by the newspaper Diario La Rioja with support from a local athletics club. Runners cover 21.097 km over a lap and a half, with a shorter 11 km option also on offer. Start and finish sit in the city center, making it easy to pair race day with a visit to the region's bodegas and wine bars.
