The Larnaka Marathon runs along the flat Finikoudes seafront, past Larnaca Castle and the Church of Saint Lazarus, meeting its one real challenge around kilometer 29 — a gradual but noticeable climb. November here still smells like summer: finish-time temperatures often creep toward 25°C. After the finish, runners get a free massage (with about a 20-minute wait) and, as one pacer put it, "fries and a couple of pints of local Keo beer" on the seafront.

Mid-November in Larnaca is usually 14-22°C and sunny, though sudden downpours or an overnight thunderstorm — as happened before the 2023 finish — do occur.

Dinner before the race
An official pasta party was held in the past, but it's unclear if it still runs every year; the Finikoudes promenade has Italian restaurants (Aldente Cucina Italiana, Italia Spaghetteria), but none is confirmed by runner testimony as "the" spot.
After the finish
Free finish-line massage (about a 20-minute wait), water, electrolytes, and fruit; many head to the seafront after for fries and local Keo beer.

After last year's thunderstorm I was really pleased to see the sun, with temperatures in the mid-20s every day. The finish was incredible, such a beautiful place to arrive.

The Larnaka Marathon honestly pleased me with its organization — it's quite good here. Although I missed the usual marathon events like the expo and pasta party, the route passed the city's main architectural monuments and ran along the salt lake.
