The Lefkara Country Run & Vertical Challenge takes place in April in the picturesque village of Lefkara, in the hills above Larnaca. On Saturday evening comes the Vertical Challenge, 4 km with about 450 m of climbing, and on Sunday morning the 13 km and 23 km cross-country races. The start winds through village lanes lined with traditional stone houses before the course heads onto wooded trails with streams and views of the Dipotamos reservoir. It is an intimate, warm-hearted event that pairs perfectly with a weekend in the hills. Lefkara is famous for its Lefkaritika lace, listed by UNESCO as intangible heritage, its silversmiths and its cosy squareside cafés.
