The Singelloop Leiden is an April evening run around the seven singels, the ring of canals encircling old Leiden. It starts at the Lammermarkt and runs anticlockwise along the water; once a race for a competitive few, it is now billed as the city's most fun family run. Leiden is Rembrandt's birthplace and home to the oldest university in the country: De Valk windmill, the Hortus botanicus and cosy canal-side cafés.
