The Arctic Triple — Lofoten Ultra-Trail
Lofoten Ultra-Trail is part of The Arctic Triple festival, held in early June above the Arctic Circle under the midnight sun. The headline distance is 100 miles (162 km) from Kirkefjorden on Moskenesøy, reached by boat, to Svolvær; there are also 50 miles from Leknes, 48 km, 24 km from the Barstrand fishery and a 12 km in Svolvær itself, plus relays. The route crosses the archipelago from west to east over sharp mountain ridges, white beaches with turquoise water, green hills and grey cliffs above the ocean. Everyone finishes in Svolvær's harbour beneath sheer mountains, and the race carries UTMB Index status and ITRA points. Lofoten means red rorbu fishing cabins, stockfish on drying racks, the village of Reine and boat trips to see sea eagles.
