The marathon starts and finishes at the Paseo del Espolón in central Logroño; marathon runners complete two laps of the city, half marathoners one. Seventeen aid stations line the course. Logroño is the capital of La Rioja, Spain's celebrated wine region, and its old town is famous for Calle Laurel, lined with tapas bars. In 2026, thanks to sponsorship from a renewable-energy company, the first 500 marathon finishers will have their entry fee refunded.
