The Zurich Rock 'n' Roll Running Series Madrid is Spain's biggest race, drawing tens of thousands of runners from around the world across marathon, half marathon, and 10K distances. The course starts on the monumental Paseo de la Castellana and winds through the capital's most iconic neighborhoods, alternating short brutal climbs with fast descents — this is no pancake-flat PB course, but the terrain and crowd energy make it unforgettable. More than 30 live music stages and cheer stations line the route, turning the race into a genuine street festival. The finish gathers runners and spectators in one of the city's central squares, where the party keeps going long after the last finisher crosses the line. For those chasing atmosphere as much as a finish time, it's one of Europe's best urban races.

It's a leg-breaker course: from the first to the last metre you're climbing or descending, with short but brutal ramps and deceptively flat stretches. The best strategy is not to obsess over the watch and just enjoy the run.
