Marathon de Båstad takes place in early July, at the height of the Swedish summer, in the resort town of Båstad in north-west Skåne. There is a marathon, a half marathon and a 10.5 km, each run as a single loop, plus relays. The course mixes seaside stretches along the coast with the town's streets, and the summer sea breeze adds character. It is a relaxed holiday race, and the beach is right there afterwards. Båstad is known for its tennis tournament, harbour cafés, the Hovs Hallar cliffs and Bjäre's strawberries and new potatoes, with Söderåsen National Park and the west-coast beaches close by.
