Marathon de Cheverny et Trail des Châteaux de la Loire takes place in late April, starting and finishing at the Château de Cheverny — the very château that inspired Hergé's Marlinspike Hall in Tintin. The choice is wide: road marathon, half and 10 km, trails of 14, 35 and 63 km and a walk, with over a thousand runners each in the marathon and half. Routes wind past châteaux, manors, Sologne forests and Loire Valley vineyards, with gentle climbs, gourmet aid stations and a festive 'in Tintin's footsteps' theme. Around it lie Chambord, Blois, Chaumont and Amboise, Cheverny and Touraine wines and goat's cheeses.
