Marathon de Växjö is a classic autumn marathon from the Växjö Löparklubb club, held for the 32nd time in 2026. The distance is eight laps of Lake Växjösjön: almost no elevation change, asphalt with a short gravel section, through avenues, parks, residential streets and the promenade on the north shore. Laps make it great for a fast time and easy for supporters, who see runners again and again, and instead of the full distance you can run a four-person relay of two laps each. There is a 600 m kids' race, and food vendors and showers at the finish. Växjö, dubbed 'Europe's greenest city', sits among Småland's lakes, with its cathedral, Teleborg Castle and the House of Emigrants, and the glassworks of the Kingdom of Crystal nearby.
