Marathon Höga Kusten takes place in late January in Nordingrå, a small village in the middle of Sweden's High Coast. There is a 5 km, a 10 km and a full marathon, so it suits both short-distance runners and those who want to cover 42 km in a true northern winter. Nordingrå's hilly surroundings, with snowy forests, frozen bays and short winter daylight, turn the race into an unusual adventure. The High Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of sheer cliffs above the Gulf of Bothnia, Skuleskogen National Park, the High Coast Bridge and fishing villages, with skiing and, on clear nights, the northern lights in winter.
