The Almada Half Marathon is organised by Almada municipality in spring, in May, with a 10 km race, a 5 km walk and a 500 m kids' race alongside the half. Start and finish are in Parque da Paz, and the course takes in the city's landmarks, including the Cristo Rei monument with rare views of the Tagus, the 25 de Abril bridge and Lisbon across the water. It is a friendly, neighbourly race for amateurs and pros alike. In Almada, ride up to the Cristo Rei viewpoint, have grilled fish in Cacilhas facing Lisbon and head to the endless beaches of Costa da Caparica.
