Meia Maratona das Cantarinhas takes place in early May in Bragança and is named after the traditional fair of clay water jugs, the cantarinhas; it is organised by Ginásio Clube de Bragança. Choose the half marathon, 10 km or 5 km, plus kids' races. The course is a single loop through the city's streets past its monuments and castle, with climbs that remind you the mountains are close. Bragança offers a medieval castle with the Domus Municipalis, the old citadel within its walls and Montesinho Natural Park with stone villages, cured sausages and roast kid.
