The Eco Meia Maratona Coimbra takes place in mid-October with a focus on sustainability and nature. There are two distances, a half marathon and a 10.5 km race, suiting both seasoned runners and those new to road racing. The race runs through Coimbra, a hilltop city above the Mondego River whose historic university is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterwards, climb to the university and its baroque Joanina Library, listen to Coimbra fado sung by men in student capes and try suckling pig in the nearby Bairrada region.
