Meia Maratona do Douro Vinhateiro

The Douro Vinhateiro Half Marathon takes place in late May around Peso da Régua and celebrates its 20th edition in 2027. Alongside the half there is a 5 km for those who simply want to soak up the views. The course follows the banks of the Douro among UNESCO World Heritage terraced vineyards — slopes rising from the water like giant steps — while the road itself stays relatively even. The Douro Valley is the home of port wine: tastings at quintas, rabelo-boat trips, the riverside train to Pinhão with its azulejo-clad station and lunches overlooking the vines.
