Meia Maratona Água de Faro is the spring half marathon of the Algarve's capital, on a course homologated by the Portuguese Athletics Federation, with a 10.5 km race and an 11 km walk alongside. In past editions it started in the evening on Praia de Faro inside the Ria Formosa Natural Park, passing the Ludo reserve, the Teatro das Figuras, the old town and cathedral and the shopping street Rua de Santo António before finishing at the marina. The organisers focus on sustainability, with recycled cups and no plastic bags. In Faro, walk through the Arco da Vila into the walled old town, take a boat through the Ria Formosa lagoons to empty islands and eat seafood in Olhão.
