The Nazaré International Half Marathon takes place in early November — just as the big-wave season starts at the Nazaré headland. Choose the half or the 10 km, both run as a single loop. The course stretches along the Atlantic coast with views of the ocean, wide beaches and the fishing town. In Nazaré, take the funicular up to the Sítio quarter and the lighthouse where surfers ride record-breaking waves, try fish dried on the beach and visit the monasteries of Alcobaça and Batalha.
