The Mezza Maratona delle Due Perle is a Ligurian Riviera half marathon organised by Atletica Due Perle in late January in Santa Margherita Ligure, part of the Portofino Marathon weekend alongside a marathon and relay from Rapallo, the Portofino Run and family races. The 'two pearls' are Santa Margherita and Portofino, and the course follows the coastal roads of the Gulf of Tigullio with views of the sea, yachts and pastel façades. The profile is rolling, with a few short climbs, but every bend reveals a new postcard. In winter the Riviera is quiet and sunny, and after the finish you can feast on focaccia and trofie al pesto. Walk to Portofino, hike to the abbey of San Fruttuoso or visit the Castello di Paraggi.
