The Palermo half marathon is held in mid-November alongside the Maratona di Palermo, the Sicilian capital's main marathon, giving runners not yet ready for 42 km the chance to race through the city. November in Sicily is still warm and sunny, making this one of Europe's most comfortable late-season starts. The course runs through Palermo's streets, where every corner reveals baroque churches, Arab-Norman domes and lively old-town quarters. Running alongside the marathoners, you become part of a big city celebration. After the finish: the UNESCO-listed Palatine Chapel and Monreale Cathedral, the Quattro Canti crossroads, Ballarò market's street food and the sea at Mondello.
