Midnight Sun Run Oulu is held in early July, when the sun barely sets in northern Finland. The marathon starts at 17:30, the half at 19:00 and the 10 km at 20:30, so runners finish late on a bright evening; there's also a free Sun Run Kids for under-12s. The course follows Oulu's seaside and passes city landmarks, with start and finish at the Nallikari beach area. Afterwards comes the AfterRun with food, drinks and recovery. Oulu is a student and tech city on the Gulf of Bothnia: the Market Square with its Policeman statue, endless cycle paths and the sandy Nallikari beach.
