Mölndalsloppet is a late-August city race in Mölndal, Gothenburg's next-door neighbour. The main Långloppet is a flat, easy-running 10 km through central Mölndal with spectators cheering along the way; there is also an almost flat 5 km, a 3 km on paths around Åby and the athletics arena, and 850 m and 400 m races on grass for little ones, who can run with their parents. Start and finish are by Åby Ishall ice arena. It is a warm local festival where families, beginners and runners chasing a 10 km PB all line up together. Mölndal is known for its waterfalls and the old mill district of Kvarnbyn by the river, while Gothenburg, with its cafés, Liseberg and archipelago, is a short tram ride away.
