Run since the early 1980s, the Media Maratón Ciudad de Motril is one of Andalusia's longest-standing road races. Motril sits on the Costa Tropical in Granada province, an area known for its subtropical climate and mango and custard-apple plantations. The certified 21.097 km course, homologated by the Andalusian Athletics Federation, starts on Avenida Doctor Norman Bethune and finishes at the Port of Motril. The 2025 edition drew around 1,800–2,000 runners.
