Nafplio Marathon

The Nafplio Marathon was first run on 23 March 2014 and held its tenth edition in 2026; it takes place in late winter or March, when the Argolid is already spring-warm. The courses are certified by World Athletics and AIMS: the half marathon is one loop and the marathon two, with a 5 km and a children's 1 km as well. The route runs beneath Palamidi Castle, along the Argolic Gulf with views of the Venetian Bourtzi islet and through the old town, finishing by Trion Navarchon and Kapodistria squares. Cultural and music events around the race turn Nafplio into a festival. Nafplio is one of Greece's most romantic towns: neoclassical mansions, bougainvillea, the 999 steps up to Palamidi, and Mycenae and the theatre of Epidaurus close by.
