The ABP Newport Wales Marathon has been held each April since 2018 by Run 4 Wales, with a half, a 10K, a mile and junior races alongside the marathon. The course was designed by double Olympian Steve Brace and named by Runner's World among the fastest marathons in the world: start and finish on the River Usk waterfront, past the castle, the Victorian market and the famous Transporter Bridge, then out across the Gwent Levels with their coastal wildlife and medieval villages. Organisers say almost 70% of finishers set a PB here. Nearby are Roman Caerleon, the Wye Valley, South Wales castles and Cardiff.
