The International Nida Half Marathon is one of Lithuania's longest-running race traditions: the September 2026 race was already its 26th edition. Besides the half there's a 5 km, a 2 km youth race and children's runs, and the atmosphere is warm, relaxed and almost family-like. Runners start in Nida itself and run through the pine forests and paths of the Curonian Spit, a narrow sandy strip between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea, where the autumn air smells of pine and sea. Nida is the jewel of the UNESCO-listed Curonian Spit National Park: the Parnidis Dune with its sundial, fishermen's cottages with weathervanes, the Thomas Mann summer house and smoked fish straight from the smokehouse.
