NN Ultrabalaton is a spring race around the whole of Lake Balaton held in late April; in 2026 it celebrated its 20th anniversary with a record of more than 35,000 registrations. Solo runners tackle the full loop of about 209 km non-stop, while most take it on in relay teams, and there is a half-loop option too. The route passes through more than 50 lakeside towns and villages with dozens of aid stations, and for the anniversary elite runners even attempted a double loop of over 400 km. The hub is Balatonfüred, with its promenade and spa villas, close to the Tihany peninsula, the Badacsony wineries and the thermal lake at Hévíz.
