North Cape Marathon (Nordkapploppet) is a summer race on the island of Magerøya at Norway's northern tip, one of the northernmost marathons on the planet. Besides the marathon there is a half marathon and a 10 km. The course crosses the island's barren Arctic highlands between the fishing town of Honningsvåg and the North Cape: bare tundra, lakes, reindeer herds and views of the Barents Sea, with a hilly profile and wind that make it genuinely tough. In July the sun never sets here, making it an unforgettable adventure at the edge of Europe. Honningsvåg is one of the world's northernmost towns, and at the North Cape a cliff rises more than 300 m above the ocean, crowned by the famous globe monument.
