Nuuksio Classic Trail Marathon

Nuuksio Classic has been held in early September since 2012, drawing hundreds of runners just outside Greater Helsinki. The main races are a trail marathon of about 42 km and the Nuuksio70 ultra of about 70 km, where every runner carries a GPS tracker; there's also a short mini-marathon. The course is a single loop on narrow paths through Nuuksio National Park: slippery roots, morning mist over bogs, rocks and lakes — it has been hailed as one of the most beautiful trail routes in the world. It's part of Trail Tour Finland with ITRA/UTMB points, and the start line mixes champions with runners in their seventies. Nuuksio means lakes, cliffs, flying squirrels and hiking just half an hour from Helsinki, with the Haltia nature centre nearby.
