The International GRAWE Oichtentallauf takes place in April in Nußdorf am Haunsberg, north of Salzburg; the 16th edition in 2026 drew a record of over 1,300 entries. It is organised by the local ski club and running club, and its 5 and 10 km races serve as the official Salzburg state championships under World Athletics rules. Besides the half marathon and shorter distances there is a relay and kids' races. The course runs through the quiet, rolling Oichten valley — fields, woods, villages and views of the Haunsberg — making it a relaxed, village-friendly season opener. Salzburg, with the Hohensalzburg fortress and Mozart's birthplace, is close by, as are the Trumer lakes and the breweries of the Flachgau.
