The BREMBO Ostrava City Marathon is the Czech Republic's oldest marathon, held since 1959; its 67th edition took place on 6 September 2026 with over 3,500 registered runners from 31 countries. It starts on Masaryk Square, and the full marathon course runs through the historic centre of the country's former mining capital. Besides the marathon there is a half, a 10K, a 4.2 km charity mini-marathon, a 6×6 km team relay and kids' races. The atmosphere is traditional and urban, with spectators in the streets. Ostrava offers the Dolní Vítkovice industrial complex with a blast furnace turned lookout, bar-lined Stodolní Street and the New Town Hall with the country's tallest town-hall tower.
