Parma Mezza Maratona

The Parma Mezza Maratona takes place in mid-September, opening the autumn running season in Emilia-Romagna. Alongside the half there is the Parma Ten 10 km and two 5 km events — Parma Ten Special and the charity 'Corri per la Vita' — so athletes and families line up together. The course runs through the flat streets of Parma, an elegant city of the Farnese and Bourbon dukes, and suits fast running in still-warm weather. It is a friendly city festival with a distinctly gastronomic flavour. After the finish, see the cathedral and Antelami's baptistery and the wooden Teatro Farnese, then sit down to Parma ham, Parmigiano Reggiano and herb tortelli.
