The ŠKODA FIT Plzeňský půlmaraton began in 2015 and grew into one of the Czech Republic's biggest running events, with more than 2,500 runners at the start; the next edition is set for 18 September 2027. The hub is Republic Square with the Gothic St Bartholomew's Cathedral, and the course runs through Plzeň's streets. Besides the half there are 2×10.5 and 4×5 km relays, a 2 km family run and a Kids Cup, so the square buzzes with running from noon to evening. The race became the seed of the nationwide 'Český půlmaraton' network. Plzeň offers the Pilsner Urquell brewery, the historic underground, the Great Synagogue and Techmania.
