The Półmaraton Hajnowski is an intimate half marathon in late May that held its 23rd edition in 2026 and sells out within hours: the cap is just 350 runners. First comes a ceremonial start at Hajnówka's amphitheatre with a brass band and majorettes, then buses take runners to Białowieża, where the race starts back towards the amphitheatre. The course is flat and fast, but above all it runs through the UNESCO-listed Białowieża Forest, where only footsteps and birdsong break the silence. A race 'for almost everyone' amid extraordinary nature. Nearby: European bison at the Białowieża reserve, the Orthodox churches of Podlasie and the narrow-gauge railway to Topiło.
