Polygyros Run is a city race in Polygyros, the administrative capital of Halkidiki — the region of the famous beach 'legs' of Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos. Its 5 and 10 km distances run through the streets of the town, set in hills above the sea, so the course is not entirely flat. The race pairs nicely with a Halkidiki beach holiday: the resorts and Thessaloniki airport are close by. Held in late August, it starts in the evening or a cooler hour to avoid the daytime heat.
