The Poznań Maraton, named after Maciej Frankiewicz, is the city's big autumn race: on 4 October 2026 it holds its 25th edition. The AIMS-certified course is part of Poland's Golden Series, running along wide arteries such as Grunwaldzka Street and suited to a good time. It honours a former deputy mayor of Poznań who did much for sport in the city. Around it is a whole running weekend, with the Poznań Five and the Pho3nix Kids Maraton. Poznań means the Old Market Square with its butting goats on the town hall, Ostrów Tumski where Poland began, and the famous St Martin's croissants.
