Richmond RunFest has been held on a September weekend since 2017 and draws more than 5,000 participants across a marathon, half marathon, 10K and family mile races. The longer races start inside the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, a UNESCO site where the paths are flat as a pancake among the glasshouses, before following riverside and green spaces through south-west London. The finish in Richmond's Old Deer Park is a festival with music, and the event is local, friendly and great for beginners. Richmond offers the famous view from Richmond Hill, the deer of Richmond Park, riverside pubs and Ham House.
