Acea Run Rome The Marathon
14 March 2027 · Rome, Italy
iconicscenic
The Rome Marathon runs through two thousand years of history in about three and a half hours: starting by the Colosseum, crossing stretches of cobblestone, past the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and finishing at the Circus Maximus, the ancient open-air chariot track. Even seasoned marathoners admit this course isn't about a personal best — it's about seeing Rome in a way no sightseeing tour can match. The pacing team here is the largest in the marathon world, and come evening, partner bars offer discounts to anyone wearing the medal.

Reviews
Sadie Lowell (Jet-Setting Runner)2025
The narrow cobblestoned streets were the real problem — tourists ignored the caution tape. But to see Rome in a new light, I was fine with not chasing a PB here.
Salvatore Ingravallo (Running For Growth)2023
The best marathon I've run — take in every second just to look around, because you don't often get to see a place like this. Don't chase a PR here.
