The Wildmarathon series' Arctic Marathon takes place in early April in Rovaniemi, starting from the Santa Claus Village square right on the Arctic Circle. Choose the marathon, half or 10 km on a loop around the village. The surface is 90% snow-covered roads and 10% forest singletrack with short steep slopes, about 120 m of climbing, and temperatures can sit around −10 °C. The race is part of a five-day package: husky sledding, a visit to the Sámi, log cabins with private saunas, an ice pool, northern-lights excursions and a trophy dinner hosted by Santa Claus. Rovaniemi is Lapland's capital: the Arktikum science centre, the Lumberjack's Candle bridge and reindeer farms.
