Run In Lyon is the city's big running celebration in early October: marathon, half marathon, 10 km and relay — 'a distance for everyone'. The courses run right through the heart of Lyon, along the Rhône and Saône embankments and through historic districts and squares that tourists usually stroll. There are Marathoons kids' races, handisport categories and a sustainability programme, making the atmosphere genuinely family-friendly and inclusive. After the finish Lyon offers Fourvière basilica, Renaissance Vieux Lyon with its traboule passageways, bouchons serving Lyonnais cuisine and the Croix-Rousse hill.
