Run Riga – Lucavsala

This stage of 'Izskrien Rīgu', the city series held since 2013, takes runners to Lucavsala, a green island in the Daugava just minutes from the centre. It starts on a Thursday evening at 19:30 with 1, 5 and 10 km and a 30-minute health run, while the children's races go at 18:30. The paths are flat and surrounded by meadows, water and open space, and at sunset you get views of the river and the city's bridges. There are awards for the 5 and 10 km, but the real draw is the summer evening and the friendly vibe that brings whole families out. Riga means a UNESCO-listed Old Town, Europe's largest collection of Art Nouveau on Alberta and Elizabetes streets, a Central Market housed in former Zeppelin hangars, and the Jūrmala seaside just half an hour away.
