RUNmarö is a mid-July race on the island of Runmarö in Värmdö municipality, about an hour from Stockholm. The main event is a single-loop half marathon, with the 6 km 'Lunken' for those who want something shorter and races for children. The route follows the island's country roads past pine forests, meadows, red summer cottages and bays looking out over neighbouring archipelago islands. The boat trip to the start, the island spirit and a swim after the finish make the race a little summer journey. The Stockholm archipelago means thousands of islands, summer cafés on the jetties, kayaking and hiking trails, while Stockholm itself has Gamla Stan, the Vasa Museum and Skansen.
