Ruskamaraton has been held at Levi since 1984 in mid-September, at the height of ‘ruska’, Lapland's blazing autumn colours; 2027 brings the 44th edition, and around 2,300 runners took part in 2026. The marathon starts in Kittilä and the half at the Sokos Hotel in Levi, with a 10 km, a 16 km trail run on the slopes of Levi fell, the roughly 6.5 km family Ruskareissu and kids' races. Routes cross autumn fells and forests painted crimson and gold, with sweeping fell views. Your race medal even earns discounts in Levi shops. Levi is Finland's biggest ski resort: panoramic lifts, saunas and, in autumn, the first northern lights.
