The Salomon Hammer Trail Winter takes place in late January from Sandvig. The course covers Bornholm's northern tip — the granite headland of Hammeren with cliffs, quarries and Opal Lake — passing Hammershus, the largest castle ruin in northern Europe. In winter the technical course adds short daylight, sea wind and sometimes ice on the rocks — a real adventure. Distances run from a half marathon to 86 km. Winter Bornholm is quiet and beautiful: empty beaches, fishing villages and cosy cafés.
