Samogitia ULTRA is a backyard ultra in Telšiai held in early June. The rules are simple and merciless: every hour everyone starts a 6.706 km loop; make it back in time and you rest until the next whistle, miss it and you're out. Twenty-four loops make exactly 100 miles, and the race goes on until only one runner is left. It's the perfect format to attempt your first 50 km, 100 km or 100 miles, and the camp-like atmosphere around the start is something special. The start is by the bridge on Lake Germantas, in one of the most scenic corners of Samogitia. Telšiai is the capital of Samogitia on the shores of Lake Mastis, with its cathedral and Alka museum, and Žemaitija National Park with Lake Plateliai is close by.
