Santorini Experience is an autumn sports festival that held its 12th edition in mid-October 2026. On Saturday athletes swim 2.4 km from the volcano across the caldera to Fira's Old Port, and on Sunday come the 15, 10 and 5 km trail runs from Oia along narrow paths on the caldera rim, with volcanic slopes, mixed surfaces and real climbing. The 5 km is open to walkers too, and 2026 added a new seaside 5 km at the foot of Ancient Thera in Kamari. The views are arguably the best of any race in Europe: whitewashed houses on the cliffs, blue domes and the endless Aegean. Santorini also means Oia sunsets, the Akrotiri excavations, volcanic beaches and local Assyrtiko wines.
