São Silvestre da Amadora is the oldest São Silvestre race in mainland Portugal, held on 31 December in Amadora, a satellite city of Lisbon. The main distance is a 10K through the city streets, with mass turnout (thousands of runners), children's races and a genuinely festive New Year's Eve atmosphere. Organised by the Amadora City Council, and thanks to its closeness to the capital (20 minutes), it is a convenient way to close the running year with a lively city race on the very last day.
